Heraeus Medevio Breaks Ground on New State-of-the-Art Facility in the Czech Republic, Adding 200 Jobs
Hradec Králové, Czech Republic and HANAU, Germany, February 5, 2024— Heraeus Medevio, contract design and manufacturing partner to the world’s largest medical device companies, recently held a groundbreaking ceremony to kick off construction of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility near the current location in the Hradec Králové region. Leaders from DRFG Investment Group and local government officials joined Heraeus Medevio executives at the event.
“Our expansion in the Czech Republic enables us to partner with our customers to bring more world-class medical devices to market and is an important step in reaching our vision to improve 100 million lives every year,” said Heraeus Medevio President Heiko Specht.
The project represents a €40 million investment by Heraeus Medevio, including a new building, infrastructure, and specialized manufacturing technologies to expand capacity and continue fostering sustainable partnerships with medical device companies. Construction will occur over the next 12 months, with product manufacturing beginning in early 2025. This expansion will create approximately 200 new manufacturing and engineering jobs over the next two years, with the potential to add 500 additional jobs in the future.
Markus Kriegl, EVP Global Operations, stated, “This investment marks a major step for our manufacturing capacity at our Czech Republic site to meet customer demands and grow in strategic business segments. By not only bringing new products to the site but also enhancing our vertical integration activities, our Czech Republic site will have an even more relevant role in our value chain going forward.”
This expansion reinforces Heraeus Medevio’s commitment to building a global network of manufacturing and design facilities with strategic proximity to its key customers. The new two-story Czech Republic facility will encompass over 9,600 square meters (103,000 square feet) and play a crucial role in helping customers bring specialized catheters to market, with applications including peripheral vascular, interventional cardiology, and neurovascular.

The opportunity to design and build a site from the “ground up” will enable Heraeus Medevio to optimize the space to create a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, supporting medical device companies in bringing better devices to market faster.
